Our vision is to provide children with an enriching, stimulating and practical science curriculum which enables them to confidently explore and discover the world around them. This in turn will allow our pupils to develop a deeper understanding, and appreciation, of the world in which we live.

At St Nicholas, we aspire to develop life-long scientists in our pupils by developing transferrable skills such as observation and critical thinking. We hope that our pupils will always be prepared to challenge their own thinking, question the world around them and not be afraid to make mistakes. Above all, we encourage our children to be curious. 

Science lessons at our school are always linked to our Cornerstones class projects which change on a termly basis.  As such, our science learning is done through a cross-curricular approach. We follow a 3-year rolling cycle, ensuring full coverage of the National Curriculum objectives. We aim to provide ample opportunities for our pupils to develop scientific enquiry skills as well as using a range of resources to develop and retain knowledge of scientific principles.

We are lucky enough to have beautiful outside spaces at our school which we endeavour to use regularly to enhance our learning, making it more meaningful and memorable.
