World Book Day 2024

World Book Day 2024

Our theme this year was ‘Bedtime Story’

We asked the children to come to school dressed in their pyjamas and dressing gown and to bring in their favourite storybook and teddy.

Olivia Tuffin, a famous author and a parent of our school, visited and spoke to the children how she had become inspired to become an author and encouraged the children to write and read.  Olivia shared some of her novels with us that she had written when she was at school and her more recent publications.    Her session finished with some book signings.

During the afternoon we had a cozy fire lit on the interactive board in the hall and the younger and older children were paired up to share their favourite bedtime stories.  The PTFA kindly supplied each child with a drink and biscuit to enhance the experience.

Also to celebrate and encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and school, we are running a sponsored read between the 8 & 22 March.   This project is being organised in conjunction with our local independent Usborne Partner and all money raised will go towards brand new book for the school.
