Impact of 2015/2016 spend

Resources:

  • Introduction of new teaching resources for gymnastics and dance.
  • Replacement equipment for curriculum and extra-curricular activities
  • Playground climbing equipment to encourage active play on a daily basis

Staff Development:

  • Whole staff trained to use gymnastics and dance resources
  • Increased staff confidence and skills though in- house professional development from our PE Leader

Curriculum Development: 

  • New curriculum taught through updated resources.
  • Children trained as Bronze Ambassadors helped to run school and pyramid events.
  • Inter-house tournaments established for all age groups in a variety of sports.
  • Year 1-6 taught by a specialist teacher on a weekly basis.

Extra-curricular development:

  • Participation in clubs increased to 98% in KS2 (with many children attending 3 or more clubs) as a result of being able to employ external coaches and AOTTs to support teaching staff.
  • Wider range of extra-curricular opportunities offered including orienteering, golf, tennis, gym
  • ‘School clubs Links more established’ .Children asked to recommend clubs as part of a wider initiative to promote ‘Healthy Living and improved standards’

Competition:

  • Transport to a variety of sporting events for all ages was funded.
  • Successful year of extra-curricular sport: KS2 football team became small schools county champions and went on to represent Dorset in the regional finals in Bath. School teams also won area events in tennis, rounders, cross country, and athletics. As a result of this we participated in several North Dorset and Dorset Competitions too.

General:

  • We were awarded GOLD in the Sainsbury Schools Games Mark in July 2016 for the second year in a row.
  • Part of a Sturminster Newton Area Sports group which provides advice, information and co-ordinated programmes of training and competitions in liaison with the School Games Organiser for North Dorset.

 

Impact of 2014 – 15 spend

  • Development of a shared vision and values in PE
  • Curriculum redesigned to match new expectations
  • Increased staff confidence and skills though in- house professional development from our PE Leader
  • Increased pupil participation
    • Children trained as ‘Bronze Ambassadors’ .Throughout the year they helped to run school and pyramid sporting events. These children were also invited to a county event as an example of good practise within North Dorset.
    • Participation in clubs increased to 92% in KS2
    • ‘School clubs Link established’ .Children asked to recommend clubs as part of a wider initiative to promote ‘Healthy Living.’
    • Incredibly successful year of sport with our KS2 teams winning football, rounders , cross country , cricket and rugby events. As a result of this we participated in several North Dorset Competitions too.
    • To put the icing on an already very healthy cake we were awarded GOLD in the Sainsbury Schools Games Mark in July 2015.
