Dance Show

April 4th, 2014

On Saturday, 29th of March the ‘Dance Club’, along with some members of the  ‘Dance Academy’ and  the choir performed in an amazing show at the Exchange in Sturminster Newton .

The show opened with an amazing dance to the song, ’High Hopes’, which involved everyone! What followed had everyone smiling and clapping and we believe a few tears were shed too!

The show would not have happened without Louise and we’d like thank her for all her hard work and support. She is an inspiration!

Our costumes were also a great success and we’d like to thank Bernie for creating such gorgeous outfits. People said we looked FABULOUS!

Finally , we would like to thank Jade C, Dian, Daniel, Jade D, Isabella, Mrs Brace, Mrs Morris, Bernie and Hannah for keeping us all in order and making sure the show ran smoothly!

WELL DONE EVERYONE!

New sports equipment!

“We’re all going to get fitter, we’ve got something for everyone!” enthused the children at St Nicholas’ Primary School about their new sports equipment courtesy of BV Dairy in Shaftesbury.

Last year BV Dairy invited children in primary schools to win funds for sports equipment by taking part in an art competition to design a poster about the goodness in milk for achievement in sporting activities. Sophie Cowley from St Nicholas Primary in Child Okeford impressed the judges with her clever and colourful artwork entitled ‘Higher, Faster, Stronger,’ showing children’s favourite, Millie, the dairy’s mascot cow striking a ballet pose in a tutu after drinking milk!

Earning a prize of £500 for her school to replenish their sports cupboards, Sophie has enabled PE co-ordinator, Sarah Salisbury and her colleagues to buy a wide range of equipment including new goal posts, large colourful playballs for the younger children, balls for rugby, football and netball as well as new ‘Dodge’ balls. New rounders kit, team bibs and gym mats are also amongst the purchases.

“It’s like a breath of fresh air, a new lease of life for sport at the school,” said Sarah, “our last sports equipment was bought ten years ago following a lottery grant and was starting to look a bit ragged, and so it’s wonderful to have been able to replace it. It’s amazing how far the £500 has stretched!’

Two other winners were Isabel Stevens from St Mary the Virgin, Gillingham and Lucy May Roberts of Shaftesbury Primary, also receiving £500 each for new sports equipment for their schools.
