This week in maths we have been learning the language ‘more’, ‘fewer’, ‘equal’. We have been practising our counting by counting how many cups of sand fill a larger container. We are working on our reading of numbers by making numbers out of playdough and showing the amount in a tens frame.

This week we have been learning about Picasso and Andy Warhol. We have created some art work linked to these two artists which will be on display soon! In PE we took to travelling around the hall and practised our jumping skills. We have all been working hard in our Read Write Inc groups on our sounds.

Welcome to Year 1

We hope you all had a lovely summer and are ready for the new term. The classroom is all ready and waiting!

On our Chestnut homepage you will find information about our topic for this term, homework expectations and the key skills for the end of the year.

Key information about Year 1 was given out in a leaflet at the end of the summer term. Anyone who did not get one or has misplaced it I will put up a copy on the noticeboard outside the classroom.

There are still some dates to be confirmed – library day, spelling day and word day. Once I have finalised the days for these I will send a letter home with details.

Any questions then please come and ask.
