DSCN0429 DSCN0432 DSCN0426 DSCN0425 DSCN0431Mrs Comins came in to tell us about growing tea in India and Ruen made some tea for everyone to try.

We also tried black rice porridge, which people eat there for breakfast.

It is made with sugar and a slice of banana on top. Most of us thought it was delicious.

Mrs Comins brought in lots of pictures and answered questions about India.

We then decided to write to the school in the village from which they get their tea.

Look how we showed what happens to our food when we digest it.

DSCN0405DSCN0406DSCN0407DSCN0408DSCN0409In science, we decided to find out what happens to our food in our bodies.

We chopped up some bananas, Weetabix and bread with scissors to represent our teeth, then mixed in some water to represent saliva.

Then we put it into a polythene bag and mixed it with orange to represent stomach acid.

After the stomach, we squeezed the mixture through a pair of tights, to show how water and nutrients are taken out of the food in the small intestine.

We represented the large intestine as a long plastic bag.

At the end of the process, the food came out looking just like poo!
